Chapter 77: Pre-Ceremony Silliness

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: The moment Hiccup shows Stoick the house he'll be living in, he has nothing but criticisms for it, including the Ambiguous Innocence of a Sapient House, how vulnerable an open courtyard is, the fact that he won't get his own door and so on. He then spends the rest of the chapter arguing with Alma over the specifics of the wedding.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Valentina is convinced that Manuel will get a gift with combat applications.
Hiccup: His gift might not exactly be combat oriented...
Valentina: He's my kid. He'll find a way.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: Bruno had named Hiccup and Mirabel "Hiccabel" In-Universe, their hypothetical future children being "little Hiccabel babies."
  • Power Perversion Potential: Valentina adds a "GIFTS IN THE BEDROOM" section to the presentation specifically to discuss how to improve their marital sex-lives with their magical gifts. While it's never elaborated how, Valentina had found a way to apply Bruno's future-vision this way.
Mariano: That doesn't apply here, anyway. Mirabel doesn't have a gift to use in the bedroom.
Valentino: I dunno, man... I hear some people do pretty freaky stuff with candles!
  • Relationship Upgrade: Fishlegs and Heather are now officially dating.
  • Running Gag: Like Hiccup and Valka, Stoick questions the innocence of a Sapient House and worries that it will eat somebody.
Stoick: You say it's magic, yes?
Hiccup: Yep! The most magical house in the Encanto!
Stoick: ...and you're sure it won't eat us?
Valka: That's what he says, but I'm not sure if I believe it...
Hiccup: JUST GET IN THE HOUSE ALREADY!
  • The Talk: When Hiccup's future in-laws show him a "SO, YOU'RE MARRYING A MADRIGAL" presentation, he initially thinks that they were going to give him the sex-talk.
