- Fictional Sport: Throw-Go-Nut bares a remarkable resemblance to American Football... but with a coconut instead of a ball.
- Humble Pie: When Phil hits the Despair Event Horizon after the punch-monkeys mock him, Grug thinks of it as Laser-Guided Karma for his tendency to put him down for his inadequacies (both real and imagined).
- Ignored Aesop: At the end of the episode, Phil does a victory dance that lasts for several hours, clearly having forgotten the lesson of the episode.
