The Scimitar (No. 22) provides examples of:

  • Con Man: Reddington refers to the Scimitar as “one part hit man, two parts conman.” The Scimitar leaves a false manages to fake a kidnapping attempt that winds up putting Ressler and Liz in hospital. Except the hospital room was a fake one made by The Scimitar. A fake hospital room with a tapped phone that Liz used to tell Cooper to put Professor Collins under protective custody.
  • Do with Him as You Will: Reddington hands the eponymous villain over to Agent Navabi, whose brother the villain murdered and walks off, telling her not to do anything he wouldn't do.
  • Professional Killer: Reddington refers to the Scimitar as “one part hit man, two parts conman.” While he wasn’t hired to kill the members of the Cloud Top missile research program, he’s had previous cons that are largely aimed towards killing his mark. One con had him join the militia of a Sunni tribe leader for 7 months before he killed him.
  • Wham Episode: The episode has Reddington getting to know a woman who was heavily implied in previous episodes to be his daughter. She even says she "hasn't seen her father in a long, long time" and she hated him for "doing unforgivable things". Then Reddington gets a lead on Berlin's (the Big Bad) location, and tries to make peace with him. Berlin spits said peace offer back in his face, saying that he will kill Reddington's daughter like he killed his daughter. Reddington then brings out the woman, introducing her with a "This woman is not my daughter...she's yours." Cue massive look of shock on Berlin's face (as well as the audience in general).
