Elizabeth and Watson finalize their wedding preparations. Watson gifts Charlie a new BMW, which surprises Elizabeth. Kristy confides her stress in her BSC and finishes packing. The day of the wedding, Elizabeth protests Kristy's expensive new bridesmaid dress. She and Kristy have an argument. Watson and Elizbaeth marry in front of their friends and family.

At the reception, a despondent Kristy is unable to reconcile with her mother. She gets her period and the girls of the BSC are there to support her. Elizabeth and Kristy make up before the former leaves for the honeymoon.

Tropes:

  • Adaptation Deviation: The main plot of the book involved Elizabeth's job unexpectedly assigning her to travel out of the country on the original date of the wedding, meaning it had to be moved up several months and causing all manner of chaos. Here, it takes place as scheduled. Also, Andrew asked to be left out of the wedding in the book; here, he and David Michael are co-ring bearers.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Kristy's opening narration mentions that Charlie had been saving for years to buy a used car, and had finally settled on a 2007 Toyota Corolla (which, if the series takes place during its air date of 2020, would be 13-14 years old depending on when it was assembled). She and Elizabeth hear him drive up, go out to see it...and instead of Charlie's famous "Junk Bucket" from the books, find that Watson splurged and bought him a brand-new BMW crossover SUV.
  • Call-Back: Kristy uses her loud whistling technique to locate her mom during the wedding preparations.
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: Apparently Richard isn't good with alcohol. At the reception, when speculating about him and Sharon, Mary Anne comments that he's had a third of a glass of champagne and so "anything can happen".
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Watson quickly realizes Elizabeth is less than pleased he spent so much money buying Charlie a car, but he assuages her irritation by claiming it was a great deal and Charlie can drive his siblings around.
  • First Period Panic: Kristy gets her first period during the reception, but apart from rushing off to the bathroom when she realizes what's happening, she doesn't really "panic"note . The rest of the BSC follows her and it turns out she's actually the last of the girls to get hers, with Mary Anne handing over a pad, then telling her how to use it. This is noteworthy as the original books never mention menstruation despite nearly all of the girls being old enough to at least have experienced their first periods.
  • Foreshadowing: Averted and played straight.
    • Kristy mentions that Elizabeth has been arguing with the sushi chef about clearly labeling the yellowtail, which would trigger a minor food allergy for Sharon. Turns out she's much more allergic to tree nuts, and ends up having a bad enough reaction after a spoonful of Nutella that Richard has to take her to get an EpiPen from her car.
    • Mary Anne runs down an itemized list from Camp Moosehead, which includes feminine products. She, Dawn, and Stacey share knowing smiles, while Kristy jokingly wonders if they told the boys to bring "masculine products". When Claudia clarifies the Camp meant feminine hygiene products (sanitary pads, tampons, etc.), Kristy is clearly uncomfortable, which is a subtle hint that she hasn't gotten her period yet.
  • Group Hug: Between the BSC toward the end of the episode.
Kristy: (narrating) I started the Baby-Sitters Club to take care of kids. But what I didn't realize was that it was also to take care of me. Because we were more than a club, we were best friends.
  • Heel Realization: Kristy has one when she thinks back to all the times Elizabeth was sad after her dad left, and finally understands how much she'd hurt her mom by opposing the relationship with Watson. She ends up feeling more and more guilty as the reception goes on because she can't get her mom alone to apologize.
  • Henpecked Husband: While performing a fake marriage between Karen and David Michael, he tells Kristy she should do whatever Karen says. Kristy snarks that he's "prepared for marriage already."
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: When he gets to the wedding and doesn't see Sharon, Richard is so rattled that he not only says he needs a drink, but offers to get Mary Anne one as well. She just stares at him in disbelief, and he realizes what he said a moment later.
  • Invisible Subtle Difference: Richard holds up two identical white shirts and asks Mary Anne which one he should wear to the wedding, much to her confusion. Apparently they have different scents, at least:
Richard: Does this smell like meat?
  • Made Myself Sad: Kristy, still upset from arguing with her mother, isn't exactly the portrait of happiness when she begins to walk down the aisle. She quickly fakes a happy smile, but obviously still feels guilty about what she said earlier.
  • Mythology Gag: In the books, the girls agree to use some of the club's funds for paying Charlie to take Kristy to and from BSC meetings, since Watson's house is literally on the other side of town from Claudia's. In the series, the Brewers live in an adjacent neighborhood (as evidenced by Kristy being able to get there while walking her dog), and instead Charlie now has to drive Kristy to meetings and baby-sitting jobs as a condition of keeping his new car.
  • Not a Morning Person: Played with; Kristy oversleeps the day of the wedding and is only woken up by Charlie blowing his car horn.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: During the BSC meeting the day before the weddding, Kristy mentions that a year ago, her mom was arguing with the electric company to try and lower their bill, while now her oldest brother has a new BMW and her mom will be wearing a diamond-studded tiara.
Kristy: It's like I'm living in an alternate dimension.
  • Running Away to Cry: When Kristy angrily says that she never wanted her mom to get remarried in the first place (this being brought on by Elizabeth's outrage over Kristy's seemingly cavalier attitude about the cost of her dress), Elizabeth is clearly very hurt, and leaves the room without saying a word.
  • The Scream: Karen lets out one of these when she sees "Morbidda Destiny" (Aunt Esme) about to conduct the wedding. Esme just shrugs it off.
Esme: This little girl thinks I'm a witch. So, in front of this room full of witnesses, I would like to say that...she's right!
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Kristy prefers casual tomboy attire, but even she can't help but marvel at how she looks dressed up for the wedding, admitting she can see why Claudia and Stacey are obsessed with clothes. Everyone else approves too, with Karen comparing Kristy to Cinderella and her mother calling her beautiful.
  • Simple, yet Opulent: Kristy's initial bridesmaid dress is a very detailed and curve-hugging yellow dress which, in her words, "kinda makes me look like a banana". When she expresses her dislike of it, Watson offers to get her another one, which turns to be a light blue silk fit-and-flare dress with a long skirt. Despite its simplicity, it still costs a good deal more money ($800 USD) than Elizabeth is comfortable with, especially after the BMW deal from earlier in the episode.
  • Snark-to-Snark Combat: Kristy and Elizabeth again. When Kristy teases her mom by joking maybe she's too old to wear a tiara, Elizabeth says someone should tell Queen Elizabeth that.
  • Sorry I'm Late: Sharon and Dawn don't show up until right before Elizabeth is about to walk down the aisle, with Sharon apologizing to the attendees near her repeatedly.
  • Wedding Episode: Elizabeth and Watson marry in this episode and the cast of teens attend.
