Go To

Philip tells Elizabeth Martha knows about the bug being discovered, and that "Clark" isn't who he says he is. Philip also tells Gabriel, who agrees Martha shouldn't be put in any more danger, but wants Elizabeth and Philip to bug the Mail Robot.Oleg thinks Stan may have the right idea about Zinaida. When Stan takes her to her hotel room, Oleg, in disguise, pretends to be someone from the KGB ordering her to renounce what she's been saying since she's been in the U.S. Afterwards, Oleg tells Stan Zinaida wasn't fazed at all, so she may be exactly who she says she is, which disappoints Stan.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Hans she can't work with him any more after Todd saw him. Hans kills Todd to remain working with Elizabeth

Elizabeth and Philip break into the repair shop where the Mail Robot is stored, but Betty (Lois Smith), the bookkeeper at the repair shop, is there. She and Elizabeth have a long chat while Philip bugs the Mail Robot, and while Elizabeth is moved by the woman, she ends up giving her an overdose of her heart medication to kill her.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: When Philip and Gabriel are playing Scrabble, Gabriel uses the word "sphinx", which is the name of a 1981 film Frank Langella appeared in.
  • Armor-Piercing Response:
    • When Elizabeth tells Betty she's making the world a better place, Betty says that's what all evil people tell themselves to justify their actions. Elizabeth has no response to that and is clearly affected by her words.
    • When Gabriel asks Philip what his problem is, Philip replies Gabriel himself is the problem, which Gabriel has no response to.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Hans attempts to kill Todd this way, but while he shoots Todd in the eye, the gun ends up jamming after that, so he chokes Todd to death instead.
  • Hollywood Board Games: Gabriel and Philip play Scrabble as a bonding activity. They talk about love and marriage and exchange quips about the words they form with their tiles.
  • Literary Allusion Title: The episode title is a play on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Betty calmly accepts her death, preferring to die by Elizabeth's hand than alone in front of a TV or wasting away in a hospital.
  • Method Acting: In-Universe - when Stan gets into Zinaida's room and sees "Oleg", the two of them fight, and Oleg beats him up pretty badly. Later, when Oleg and Stan meet again, Stan asks if Oleg wasn't thinking about how much he wanted to hit Stan, and Oleg just smirks.
  • Oh, Crap!: Betty when she realizes Elizabeth won't let her live through the night.
  • Shout-Out: Gabriel and Philip play Scrabble.
