Puss in Boots sets out to slay a dragon, but when he finds the dragon is sick and friendly, he decides to keep it as a pet instead.
Tropes:
- Aesop Amnesia: The Aesop (don't force assistance on others when it is neither needed nor wanted) bounces right off Puss.
- Androcles' Lion: The Mother dragon lets Puss off with a warning when it's clear the baby dragon has recovered and also is extremely fond of Puss.
- Ask a Stupid Question...:Dragon: [Dragon Toby's] name is Ephraim! He's one!
Puss: What? If he's a baby, why did he not say so?
Dragon: Because he's a baby!! - Amplified Animal Aptitude: Babieca is seen passing the time by writing his name out in the sand.
- Call-Back: When Senora Zapata objects to keeping the Dragon as it is dangerous, Cleevil points out they said the same kinds of things about her and they kept her.
- Does Not Know His Own Strength: As the dragon recovers, its playfulness starts becoming heavily destructive.
- Kev Lard: Puss blindly walks into Senora Zapata's stomach and is knocked flat on his back, while she doesn't move an inch.
- Monster Is a Mommy: A larger dragon attacks the town. Turns out mom is extremely upset someone kidnapped her baby.
- Pet Baby Wild Animal: Not that Puss realizes the Dragon was a baby.
- Puppy-Dog Eyes: Once again, someone (the dragon) trying to use this on Puss is met with laughs and Puss showing off how it's really done. Later the two of them do this together to convince the San Lorenzans to let the dragon stay.
- We Named the Monkey "Jack": Toby suggests they name the Dragon "Dragon Toby". Puss objects, but is unable to think of a better name, so it sticks.
