Paddington doesn’t have a hobby of his own, so Mrs. Brown helps him find what he’s good at.

Tropes:

• An Aesop: Everyone is good at something, you just have to find what you’re passionate about.
• Asinine Alternate Activity: Paddington is excited to ride a motorcycle with Mrs. Bird, but they spend the whole time cleaning the bike instead.
• Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Mr. Brown is the only good singer in the men’s choir. The other members sound dreadful, especially Paddington.
• Malaproper: Paddington struggles quite a bit with how to pronounce “gymnastics.”
• Pastimes Prove Personality: All of the Browns’ hobbies fit their personalities well:
  • Mrs. Brown is a Caring Gardener, fitting for the mother of the family.
  • Mr. Brown, who is prone to dramatics and likes the limelight, sings.
  • Judy, an energetic Genki Girl, does gymnastics.
  • Jonathan builds toy rockets, which fits his adventurous nature.
  • And, of course, daredevil Mrs. Bird rides motorcycles.
• Sticky Situation: Paddington uses too much glue on his handmade rocket and gets stuck to it as it blasts off into the sky.
• Trauma Swing: Thinking that he’s not good at anything, Mrs. Bird finds Paddington sitting on the backyard swing looking forlorn.
• Walkie-Talkie Gag, Over: Happens when Paddington and Jonathan are getting ready to launch a rocket.
