Rentarou ant the girls are taking part in the annual Quad Town Public Sports Festival, representing their hometown of Sukisugi-chou. Kusuri's father and Uncle Hiro are also participating in the tournament, with their argument over who's daughter is better causing embarrassment for the aforementioned girls. The mayor of Kiraisugi-chou appears and tells his rivals that he's hired a team of professional athletes for the tournament, provoking the ire of the men watching the mayor trash talking the girls.

The first round of the tournament is tug-o-war. The men's division ends with a loss for Sukisugi, as does the women's division. The second round is the track race, which Rentarou and Mimimi both lose as well. Realizing how badly Kiraisugi is coming out on top, Hakari suggests trying to exploit their own unique quirks to combat the rival town. To this end, Yamame and Shizuka take up the ball toss round, with Shizuka collecting balls and Yamame throwing her above the baskets to drop them in, with Meme and the Hanazonos catching her. Realizing what the girls are trying to do, the mayor of Kiraisugi-chou decides to bribe the festival officials into cheating in his town's favor.

Ahko participates in the costume race, where she has to dress up as No-Face's final form using a stack of black garbage bags. The other competitors mess up their costumes, while Ahko dazzles the spectators with her No-Face outfit. Uto takes up the scavenger hunt race, where she has to find a spear that can pierce any shield and a shield that can block any spear. She presents the official with a plastic fork and a paper plate, arguing a case that earns a victory for Sukisugi.

Kurumi is up for the bread race, with her bread slice switched out for a whole loaf. She swallows the whole thing in one bite and crosses the finish line while the others are still eating. Kiraisugi runs the spoon race with a glued egg, but Nano still manages to come out ahead. Kiraisugi runs the blindfold race with a translucent blindfold, but Mei is unaffected by her blindfold. Even a random scattering of caltrops on the obstacle course isn't enough to match Yaku's training. With the point deficit decreasing, Rentarou rallies everyone into strengthening their resolve to win the tournament.

Tropes:

  • Batman Gambit: Mimimi's rival in the foot race teases her about how she's disti=orting her face while running in order to slow her down.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The tug-o-war match ends in less than five seconds.
  • Loophole Abuse: Due to Kiraisugi's cheating, Uto is tasked in the scavenger hunt race to find both a spear that can pierce any shield and a shield that can block any spear. Uto simply presents a plastic fork and a paper plate, arguing that the strongest spearman could pierce through anything with even a plastic fork and the strongest shieldbearer could block anything with just a paper plate, and she was never asked to present such people.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: The mayor of Kiraisugi-chou uses his town's taxpayer money for bribery.
  • Shame If Something Happened: The mayor of Kiraisugi-chou threatens a festival official this way.
  • Ship-to-Ship Combat: Kusuri's father and Hiro argue over which of their daughters is the better girl for Rentarou.
  • Shout-Out: Ahko is tasked with dressing up as No-Face's final form.
  • Unstoppable Force Meets Immovable Object: Uto is tasked with finding a spear that can pierce any shield and a shield that can stop any spear. Her answer? A plastic fork and a paper plate. She argues that a strong spear wielder could pierce anything with a plastic fork, and a strong shield bearer could stop anything with a paper plate. And it works.
