Meanwhile, Ellison is accused of a murder committed by a Terminator copy of him.

Tropes

  • Blunt "Yes": By Cromartie when Jody asks him if he's planning to hurt Cameron.
  • Call-Back: The social workers at the halfway house from "Allison From Palmdale" briefly reappear.
  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: Cameron is more upset that her jacket was stolen than the diamonds and fake IDs, or the threat to John. Through the episode, this is what she is worked up over and upon finding the thieves we get this exchange before headshots for all.
Cameron: My jacket. Give it to me.
    Thief: Come and get it.
Cameron: [brandishing a 9mm] Come and give it to me.
  • Enemy Civil War: Cromartie tells Ellison that he killed the Terminator duplicate because he believes, unlike Skynet, that Ellison will lead him to the Connors, putting his mission above his abstract loyalty.
  • False Reassurance: Implied in Cromartie's conversation with the burglar who Sarah spared at the end of the episode:
Nicholas: She said she would kill me.
    Cromartie: I promise you she won't. [Un-Smile]
  • Gender-Blender Name: Jesse. Used to advantage when Sarah asks Derek who Jesse is.
Derek: He came back with me. One of them killed him.
  • Kill and Replace:
    • What the Ellison duplicate Terminator apparently intended to do to him.
    • What Weaver may have done to Detective Kaplan to solve Ellison's problems.
  • Kosher Nostra: Moishe is a deeply religious Jew who doesn't see any contradiction with his criminal activities.
  • Modesty Bedsheet: Derek and Jesse are in bed under a sheet when Sarah calls him.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Jesse in a bikini, by the pool. The conversation she and Derek have could take place literally anywhere.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Derek, Cameron, and Jesse all believe this when it comes to petty crooks. Sarah has more compunction.
  • Photographic Memory: Cameron recognizes the Connors' diamonds in Moishe's shop, by sight.
  • Properly Paranoid: Cameron shoots the three robbers even after they get their credit cards and IDs back, because the robbers knew where they lived. Sarah, on the other hand, can't bring herself to kill the fourth robber. Sure enough, he ends up giving Cromartie their address at the end of the episode.
  • Riddle for the Ages: Just what was the truth behind Ellison's experiences? Was the Terminator copy of him sent to kill him, and was it really Cromartie who saved him? Or did Weaver set up the entire situation to mess with his head?
  • Shout-Out:
  • Skewed Priorities: Don't take Cameron's jacket. Just... don't, she stresses over this more than the stolen diamonds and fake IDs, and had it been left alone the thugs may have lived.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The petty thieves that robbed the Connors put Cromartie on their trail, almost dooming humanity's only hope.
  • Wham Line: Detective Kaplan, who supposedly doesn't know about Terminators, asks the witness if he saw an "energy bubble".
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Directed at Cameron after she kills the thieves.
  • Wild Goose Chase: Moishe sends the Connors after a man who owed him money, claiming that he was the burglar.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Cromartie casually throws Jody out of a moving car when she refuses to co-operate with him any more, although she survives.
