Donatello's personality is altered by the Shredder's latest weapon and he becomes a darker crime-fighting vigilante. Meanwhile, the Triceratons have come to invade the Earth!
Tropes
- Batman Parody: The titular Dark Turtle is an obvious Expy of Batman. He even bases his persona on an In-Universe example called the Midknight Avenger.
- Darker and Edgier: This and Season 7 in general is noticeably darker than the previous 6 seasons, something that would be taken further once the show gets the Retool in Season 8. Most episodes now take place strictly at night, and several of the music cues heard in the Red Sky seasons make their debut here.
- Jerkass Has a Point: After Donatello's personality gets altered, he makes a point that the Turtles are always letting Shredder get away to do another evil scheme while everything bad that happens to them goes unanswered for.
- Planet Looters: The Triceratons's plot is to pull Earth through a portal to the Triceraton Homeworld. There the planet will be stripped of all its resources, humanity will be made into a Slave Race and what's left with be incinerated.
