Recap / Teen Titans Go S 5 E 10 Quantum Fun

Go To

Robin attempts to teach the Titans about quantum physics.

Tropes:

  • Existential Horror: The episode starts with Robin wondering if he truly exists and if they're all living in some kind of artificial construct.
  • Kill and Replace: The Titans get rid of their superpositions by simply measuring them, but the last set of superpositions measure and erase the originals instead. The show acts as if the remaining Titans are the originals because they essentially are.
  • Me's a Crowd: In the climax, after understanding quantum physics through a catchy rap song, the Titans start to see their own superpositions and have to avoid being overwhelmed by observing and measuring them out of existence.
  • Mondegreen: When Robin tries to tell the others about the concept of a "paradox", Starfire asks if he wants a "pair-of-boxes", and Raven decides to call in a pair-of-docs to diagnose Robin.
  • Real After All: The final shot of the episode is the camera pulling back from an animator working on the show on his computer, proving that Robin's concerns about living in an artificial world were verified.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: Robin's attempt to talk about Schrödinger's Cat with the Titans immediately breaks down when the ghost of Beast Boy, playing the cat, rises from the box.
  • Shout-Out: Cyborg is excited to learn about quantum physics because he loves that show, and Robin says that he's mixed it up with Quantum Leap. Later, they mix up Schrödinger with Schroeder from Peanuts.
