Recap / Teen Titans Go S 4 E 11 BBRAE

Go To

Beast Boy attempts to woo Raven. After his original gifts are turned down, he decides to create a song for her like he did for Terra with "Fade Away". It works, but then Beast Boy decides that the whole world needs to hear the song; when it becomes incredibly popular and turns Beast Boy into a superstar, Raven becomes jealous.

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: After Beast Boy's song gets popular, he ends up becoming focused on the fame, to the point that he dedicates the song to his audiences instead of to Raven and starts barring her from his personal dressing room. This leads Raven to getting revenge by causing a Hate Plague.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Beast Boy and Raven seal their new relationship with one. The other Titans, watching via camera at the Tower, immediately throw confetti and open champagne when they see it happen.
  • Cliffhanger: Part 1 ends with Beast Boy deciding to upload his song to the internet to tell the whole world his love, Raven telling him that she's not comfortable with such a personal song being broadcast to everyone, and Beast Boy standing down...while secretly using his Titan communicator to upload the song anyways.
  • Dating Catwoman: One of the lovey couples in the park in Jump City is Speedy and Kitten.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Beast Boy summons one of these thinking it was a poem Raven wrote, when it's actually a spell.
  • Gone Horribly Right: In her anger, Raven casts a spell to warp Beast Boy's song, not realizing how powerful the spell was and forgetting that the song went country-wide at best, world-wide at worst.
  • Hate Plague: Raven casts a spell to make Beast Boy's love song a hate song, as a means to get back at Beast Boy and make him learn his lesson.
  • Love Is in the Air: When Beast Boy goes against Raven's wishes and uploads his very personal song for her to the internet, it ends up having this effect. Then Raven gets jealous and manipulates it into a Hate Plague.
  • Magic Music: Beast Boy's first song causes a Love Is in the Air effect, and then Raven curses it to have a Hate Plague effect instead. When Beast Boy makes a new song about how he shouldn't have fiddled with a good thing, the new song is then able to magically counteract the curse and turn everything to normal, despite Beast Boy lacking magical powers himself.
  • Multi-Part Episode: In syndication, the episode is split into two fifteen-minute segments.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Once Raven realizes that her cursing Beast Boy's song did a lot more than wreck his fame, she almost says this verbatim.
  • Relationship Upgrade: The episode gives Beast Boy/Raven shippers the episode they've been wanting for so long! This includes the other Titans, who start Part 2 eating popcorn and admitting how nice it is that the Unresolved Sexual Tension has finally been resolved.
  • Toilet Humor: While seeking advice from the other Titans on his song, Starfire advises him that he shouldn't include the part about how he has "nervous toots" when thinking about her.
