Recap / Teen Titans Go S 2 E 33 Tamaranian Vacation

Go To

Wondering how Starfire maintains her over-the-top optimism, the Titans decide to visit her home planet to get some answers, and it turns out to be a far less happy experience than they expected.

  • Altar Diplomacy: Starfire agrees to marry General Thraxis in order to end the war between his planet and hers that Cyborg accidentally causes. Robin's able to bare through the wedding while crying, but when the Titans learn that Starfire will have to leave with the General while he goes off to conquer other planets, he hits his limit and blows the alien up with a Birdarang.
  • Big "NO!": Robin does this after finding out that Starfire is marrying General Thraxis.
  • Death World: The moment that the Titans arrive on Tamarin, the air itself attempts to kill them, with Starfire calling it "fire air" that's meant to weed out the weak.
  • Fed to the Beast: After Altar Diplomacy falls apart, the only way for Starfire to regain her honor and also prevent Thraxis' forces from retaliating is by fighting a large monster, which immediately eats all of the Titans whole. While trapped inside the beast on a small platform surrounded by corrosive stomach acid, Starfire admits to being a Stepford Smiler, and then the Titans decide to behave so positively that the beast can't stand it and explodes.
  • First Contact Faux Pas: When the Titans first meet the visiting General Thraxis, Cyborg greets him with a handshake, only to learn from Starfire that a handshake on their planet is equivalent to declaring war; three-quarters of the planet's population is killed in the following few seconds, and it's only stopped when Starfire bargains for a truce with Altar Diplomacy.
  • Stepford Smiler: It turns out that the reason Starfire's always positive is because if she wasn't, the unending tragedy of the world she grew up in and the inanity of her teammates would have completely broken her by now.
