The Forest of No Return is in perpetual motion and changes without warning.
Adira

The group encounters a magical forest known being hard to navigate, but Eugene is sure he can do it.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Amazon Chaser: Lance falls for Adira the instant he sees her cutting down trees with a sword. He outright says "I love strong women" when she hoists him over her shoulder.
  • Beneath the Mask: Eugene confides that he's in a bit of an identity crisis, as he's spent most of his life as the Lovable Rogue and is having trouble growing out of it. Adira encourages him, saying he can be a rogue and The Heart.
  • Calling Me a Logarithm: A variant. Adira calls Eugene "fish skin", which everyone mocks him over. Turns out it was a reference to fish skin being the most important element in glue, not a comment on his skin.
  • Don't Go in the Woods: It's called the Forest of No Return for a reason. It's full of trees that change position, mutant insects, living mushrooms, Draxes that disguise themselves as beautiful flora, and ground that teleports you.
  • Eldritch Location: The Forest of No Return, and for good reason (see above).
  • Humble Pie: After losing first the carriage and then his friends Eugene finally admits that he should follow the map and listen to Adira's advice.
  • Ignored Expert: Eugene, and to a lesser extent Cass, don't trust Adira enough to listen to her advice on how to navigate the Forest.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: "Draxes" are big creatures that appear to be a cross between spiders and bats, and that can camouflage themselves as flowers to boot.
  • The Nicknamer: Adira refers to everyone by their defining characteristics. Cass is "short hair", Eugene is "fish skin", Lance is "earrings" and so on. Hook Foot, on the other hand, is just "Hook Foot".
  • Team Chef: Adira turns out to be a pretty good cook. She even makes a dish for Pascal.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: When the group encounters gigantic spiders, Lance is frozen again due to his arachnophobia. He almost mentions the trope by name when he says
Lance: Spiders, why does it always have to be spiders?!
