Oscar and Hedgehog learn about a quicksand that lets them go back in time.

- Blunt "Yes": When a kid asks Oscar if his mom bought his underwear for him, Oscar says "yes" and wonders what kid buys their own underwear.
- From Bad to Worse: Oscar and Hedgehog's constant attempts to correct the past from Oscar failing to get a point and letting everyone see his underwear get increasingly worse to hilarious effect; mostly because the game annoyed Susie while she was enduring a headache and she ends up causing most of the damage initially.
- Genre Savvy: Hedgehog is initially against time-traveling to due the books she reads. She ends up being right.Hedgehog: My science-fiction novels imply it's never a good idea to change the past.
- Goofy Print Underwear: Oscar's rainbow-and-dinosaur printed underwear becoming visible when his pants come loose, causing the others to laugh at him, is what inspires him to go back in time in the first place.
- Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Oscar and Hedgehog remember everything while everybody else is none the wiser.
- Secret Admirer: Susie thinks she has one when Oscar and Hedgehog anonymously hand her a kit basket to care for her headache, going so far as to interrupt the softball game and demanding to know who it is. When they go back in time to prevent this by directly handing her the basket, she just assumes they BOTH have a crush on her instead.
