Recap / Strong Bad Email E 26 CGNU

Go To

Airdate: Monday, May 6, 2002

Sender: Margo

Strong Bad: (singing) Check that email, check it down, check that email, smack it around!

Margo asks how to become a graduate of Crazy Go Nuts University. Strong Bad goes so far as to present a little infomercial on CGNU.

Strong Bad: Do you want to be more awesome? Sure! We all do. Here in Crazy Go Nuts University, you can get the experience you'll need to be almost half as awesome as I am.

Crazy Go Nuts University lets students earn a certificate in such fields as:

  • Cheesing People Off
  • Indian-Giving
  • Cutting Ones
  • Doing Some Other Things
  • Home Invasion
  • Cracking Wise
  • World Domination
  • Sending Me a Dollar
  • Total Spaceship Guy
  • TV / VCR Repair
  • Or get your degree!

All applicants have to do is fill out a free art test and send it in.

Strong Bad: Remember, at Crazy Go Nuts University, the future is... you. Probably.
(The logo for CGNU appears on screen)

Tropes:

  • Continuity Nod:
    • The sender's question is a reference to the "Homestar Quiz" game, where Strong Bad had a "diploma" from Crazy Go Nuts University. This was in turn a reference to his line "things were just about to start getting crazy go nuts" in "The Luau".
    • The "art test" to get into CGNU involves drawing a picture of the Painting of a Guy with a Big Knife.
  • Exact Words: In the DVD commentary, Homestar says he got a certificate in Sending Me a Dollar by sending himself a dollar.
  • Long List: Crazy Go Nuts University allows students to "Get your certificate in Cheesing People Off, Indian-Giving, Cutting Ones, Doing Some Other Things, Home Invasion, Cracking Wise, World Domination, Sending Me a Dollar, Total Spaceship Guy, TV / VCR Repair, or get your degree!"
  • Our Slogan Is Terrible: CGNU's slogan is "The Future is You... Probably".
  • Rattling Off Legal: The commercial for CGNU ends with the disclaimer "Actual applicants not accepted. Art test is only so we can make fun of you."
  • Shout-Out: Strong Bad's commercial for Crazy Go Nuts University is a parody of a series of ads for International Correspondence Schools in the 1980s and 1990s, which featured celebrities like Sally Struthers and William Shatner asking viewers "Do you want to make more money? Sure, we all do."

Announcer: (speaking quickly) Actual applicants not accepted. Art test is only so we can make fun of you.
