Chapter 77: Morning
In math class, Ms. Usami discusses the speed of light and the speed of sound, asking the class what was the first invention to break the sound barrier. Mishima guesses a gun, but Nanako gives the correct answer of a whip, and feels her Knowledge increase.
Chapter 78: After School
Nanako meets Haru on the roof, and after watering the plants, Haru offers a snack in the form of a fancy-looking strawberry cake, complete with glass plates and silver forks. As Nanako remarks on how it must have been expensive, Haru looks stricken and admits that the person she bought it for doesn't like strawberries, but she refuses to let it go to waste. While unsure of this unknown man, Nanako realizes that Haru must be wealthy, and enjoys the cake. They talk about junk food, Haru expressing fondness for Big Bang Burger's vanilla milkshake and Nanako for Junes's dango, both due to childhood nostalgia. Nanako muses on working at Big Bang Burger, and Haru quickly asks why; at hearing she's looking for a job, Haru mentions a family friend who needs a babysitter for their daughter Mei and offers to introduce Nanako to them, to which Nanako happily agrees. Haru thanks Nanako for a good time and Nanako thanks her for the cake and job.

Chapter 79: Evening
Nanako meets Chie at Tartarus Gym, asking for help with using her Compendium strap as a weapon and excusing it as having an inconspicuous weapon she can carry, figures it's the closest she can get to whip lessons for Ann besides YouTube videos. Chie leads Nanako through a Tai Chi lesson, comparing Kung Fu to whips and wrecking balls by saying it's about gathering energy and releasing it at the right moment. Nanako thanks Chie, inviting her to come by for dinner sometime. Chie jokingly offers to cook for her before admitting she knows she hasn't gotten any better at it. Nanako leaves, feeling that she increased her Proficiency.
