Chapter 22: Afternoon
Nanako's coping mechanism with the world not making sense is taking control, as she had when her mother died until Yu helped Ryotaro overcome his grief. No longer certain if she'll join the volleyball team, she makes several lists of options. Yu looks over them and mentions his experience with Yasogami's basketball club and drama club, and consoles Nanako over her uncertainty. He sets her lists aside as he says that sometimes no plan is the best plan, and that if her connection with Ren was real, he'll come around. And if not, she's still on an adventure for the year and Yu is happy to have her around. He takes her out to dinner and a movie to enjoy the last day of break.
Chapter 23: Night
Another nightmare of the battle against Kunino-Sagiri changes when the monster lets go of Nanako, and she falls out of the memory to a bridge of dull red light, back to her present body and age. Above her is a stone ceiling, and groaning echoes around her. The light blocks everything from view until she sees a prison cell behind her, with a despondent woman inside with platinum hair, gold eyes, and an elegant blue dress [Margaret]. As Nanako makes to move closer, the woman looks up to see her, surprised at her presence and calling her Justice before Nanako wakes up.
