Specs and Trapper use Alva’s research money to create a pair of super-suits for their own use.

- Everyone Has Standards: Alva eventually realizes that Specs and Trapper are using him to become criminals, and fires them.
- I Have Your Wife: Spectrum and Speedtrap steal the petrified Omnifarious to threaten Alva.
- Pay Evil unto Evil: Alva not only fires Specs and Trapper for being useless, he also steals their property while evicting them from his apartment. It would be tragic if they weren't so obnoxious and smug.
- Status Quo Is God: The youth centre is prevented from closing by a generous donation by Alva, a thanks for Static recovering his son.
- Subverted Catchphrase: Virgil almost says “This looks like a job for Static”, but Richie cuts him off, because “Superman has dibs on it”.
