Dr. Mitaka lives on a barren world with a crew of droids, hoping to Terraform it. One of his droids is T0-B1, a.k.a. "Tobi", who dreams of becoming a Jedi.

Tropes:

  • And the Adventure Continues: The story ends with Tobi and CO3 leaving the planet to help others like Mitaka would've wanted.
  • An Arm and a Leg:
    • Mitaka is missing both his arms, implied to have been lost in battle during his days as a Jedi. He gets by in a Cool Chair with retractable limbs.
    • Near the climax of their fight, the Inquisitor shatters Tobi's left arm. Since he's a droid, it doesn't slow him down much, and he later repairs it.
  • Become a Real Boy: Tobi wants to be a Jedi even though only organics can be Force-sensitive. He often imagines himself as a human boy in his daydreams.
  • Black Knight: The Inquisitor in this episode is depicted as one with his heavy armor in place.
  • The Cameo: One of the drawings on the wall is a four-armed figure wielding lightsabers, likely General Grievous.
  • Combining Mecha: Tobi can combine with CO3 to become faster.
  • Due to the Dead: From the looks of things, the Inquisitor took the time to make a cairn over Mitaka's body. That or the others droids apart from Tobi did that after the Inquisitor left.
  • Handicapped Badass: Mitaka has no arms but is still a skilled Jedi.
  • Like a Son to Me: This is basically Mitaka's treatment of Tobi.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: With one exception, droids have never been shown to be Force-sensitive. He gets a "vision" from Mitaka, but it's unclear if this is a genuine vision or just a program stored in his memory. He is able to use a lightsaber competently but he doesn't use any other Force-based powers.
  • Mythology Gag: Before hiding Tobi away, Mitaka says, "I am one with The Force, and The Force is with me."
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Tobi fiddled around with a radio in the ship that was in the basement, where he was not supposed to go under any circumstances. This led to the Empire finding them and the Inquisitor killing Mitaka.
  • Right Under Their Noses: The kyber crystal Tobi spent the episode searching for was hidden inside his chest compartment the whole time.
  • Shout-Out: To Astro Boy. Tobi is a confirmed expy of Astro Boy, being a cute robot boy created by a professor as a surrogate son, and wants to be a hero, is accompanied by other Robot Buddies, and is antagonized by a monsterlike being (the best Astro Boy antagonist that comes to mind is the Peacekeeper from the 2009 movie). He even shares his name with Tobi(o), Professor Tenma's dead son who he based Astro Boy off of. By a similar token, Prof. Mitaka is effectively a composite of Dr. Ochanomizu/Elefun/O'Shay from Astro Boy and Dr. Light (who admittedly is himself a Shout Out to Ochanomizu).
  • Terraform: What Mitaka wants to do to the barren planet he lives on. After his death, Tobi and CO3 complete his work, then at the end leave to help terraform other planets.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Tobi goes into Mitaka's old ship while playing Jedi and sends a message into the communicator calling for other Jedi. This attracts the attention of an Inquisitor and gets Mitaka killed.
