Lola is a Force-wielding artist with a dark secret: she's a Sith apprentice, or at least, a former one. However, when a demon from her past finds its way to her, she must try to defend herself.

Tropes:

  • The Apprentice: Lola is the lapsed apprentice of the Sith Master. She tells him in no uncertain terms that she is no longer a Sith. He does not take this rejection well.
  • Art Attacker: Lola is a former Sith apprentice who has turned to art to try to eradicate the darkness from her past and herself. The return of her former Sith master inspires her to realize the light and darkness are part of the painting, part of her, and she is able to defeat him in a duel. She uses her mastery of color and perspective against the Sith master, not as a direct attack but as scene-setting and giving her advantageous lighting, false perspective, and trompe l'oeil illusions granting her a home-field advantage.
  • Boom, Headshot!: E2 uses his hidden Eye Beam to take the head off one of the Sith's assassin droids with one shot.
  • But Now I Must Go: Realizing the Sith now know where she is, Lola and E2 board her ship and fly off to find a new refuge.
  • Call-Back:
    • As in the first episode of Volume 1, a former Sith takes the spotlight, though she has a much brighter outlook on life despite her dark past.
    • As with The Elder, Lola's old master turns to ash after being fatally injured.
  • Cool Sword: Lola's lightsaber has a yellow blade, and is unusually short and slightly curved, resembling a Japanese tachi. At the end she reveals it has two blades, the second one Sith red, to catch her old master by surprise. The Sith Master himself has a flat broadsaber resembling a European longsword, complete with a metal crossguard.
  • Cope by Creating: Lola copes with her past and self by painting. Behold, perhaps the first force sensitive to find a healthy harmless outlet to deal with their issues.
  • Duel to the Death: When Lola refuses to return to her master's side, this is what follows.
  • Doing It for the Art: An In-Universe version of the trope as Lola appears to be doing art as a matter of self-expression and self-realization, with no apparent intent or opportunity for her art to be witnessed or experienced by others.
  • Graceful Loser: The Sith Master's response to being mortally wounded is to calmly congratulate Lola and tell her she's the Master now.
  • Interesting Situation Duel: The duel between Lola and her former Sith Master takes place in her stronghold, where she uses her force painting powers to create illusionary landscapes and false perspectives.
  • Mythology Gag: Lola drives a hybrid repulsor/wheelbike similar to General Grievous' ride in Revenge of the Sith.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Lola is a samurai wizard cyborg artist.
  • Robot Buddy: E2 is Lola's loyal droid companion, curious, compassionate, and cute. Also armed with a wicked eye-blaster cannon that can take the head off an assassin droid at range like nobody's business.
  • Rule of Symbolism: Painting and color run through the whole short. Lola is struggling to redefine herself, and her hideaway resembles a sketch page, blank white with an uncertain sense of space and perspective except for occasional drawings and the places she's filled in with random blobs and streaks of color. However, the color black runs through it all, demonstrating how the Dark Side still has a hold on her. She herself has the appearance of a semi-finished painting, with her body and clothes outlined by streaks. In contrast, the Sith Master and his droids are fully realized in both personality and appearance, and have a much more solid appearance.
  • So Proud of You: When Lola defeats him, the Sith Master congratulates her in his last moments and proclaims her the new Sith Master. She rejects it as he crumbles to dust.
  • Sword Drag: The Sith Master does this as he enters Lola's base, seemingly to intimidate her. After the fight begins, he later weaponizes it to hurl a shower of sparks into Lola's face and blind her for a moment, and she only barely dodges the follow-up strike.
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: After accepting that the Dark Side is still a part of her even as she attempts to embrace the Light, Lola reveals her lightsaber has a second, red blade, and ends her duel with her master in a single stroke.
