The climactic duel on Yavin IV between Anakin Skywalker and Asajj Ventress comes to a close.
Tropes:
- Call-Forward: Anakin and Asajj duel at a temple on Yavin 4. It's unknown whether or not this is the same one that the Rebels will use as a base in A New Hope.
- In the same duel, Anakin's No-Holds-Barred Beatdown that finishes off Ventress ironically mirrors the one he will be receiving from Luke in Return of the Jedi.
- Chiaroscuro: Anakin's fight with Asajj briefly has them fighting in a darkened tunnel. All you can see is the red-blue reflections of their lightsabers. Anakin is in blue, Asajj in red; when they emerge atop the temple, into the light of a red gas giant in the sky, and Anakin finishes Asajj with her own lightsaber and the Dark Side, they are both shown in red.
- Clifftop Caterwauling: Anakin, after his fight with Ventress.
- Disney Death: The last time we saw Asajj Ventress in the series, but later works reveal she survived.
- Foreshadowing: This isn't going to be the last time Anakin wields a crimson lightsaber...
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: While Anakin continues to beat Ventress down, the silhouettes of Yoda, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are seen, watching what is happening in horror.
- No-Sell: Anakin actually powers through a Force Push by Asajj Ventress who gets the same thing in return.
- Theme Song Power Up: "Duel of the Fates" plays when Anakin finally uses the Dark Side.
- Unstoppable Rage: Anakin unleashes a fury of attacks on Ventress after accessing the powers of the Dark Side.
