Before Star can exit a visit to the Lucitor's vacation home, a firestorm strands everyone inside. During her stay, Star can't help but feel resented by Tom's mother for unknown reasons.
Tropes:
- Beach Episode: Takes place in the Lucitor's beach house in the Netherworld, and it opens on Star and Tom surfing the lava waves.
- Convection, Schmonvection: No matter how close Star gets to the lake of fire, she's unharmed as long as it doesn't touch her. She initially wore a heat resistant suit while surfing, but only as a precaution against falling in.
- Does Not Like Spam: Gloominus mentions how he can't stand cucumbers.
- Empathic Environment: The storm outside turns out to be caused by Queen Wrathmelior's "personal weather system". Once she comes to accept Star breaking Tom's heart, the weather subsides.
- Hidden Depths: Turns out Tom didn't just buy the carriage he brought for Star in "Blood Moon Ball", he built it himself.
- Hypocrite: Star delves into this a bit. She's upset that Tom told his mom about her kissing Marco without telling Star that he did. Only for Tom to point out that she didn't tell him about her kissing Marco at all. And, while he's not angry about it happening, she doesn't have the grounds to be angry with him in this situation as he was the one who was wronged. Upon realizing her hypocrisy, Star decides to leave the lake house.
- Internal Reveal: Tom reveals to Star that he knows about her kissing Marco in the photo booth.
- My Beloved Smother: Wrathmelior has a somewhat invasive view of her teenage son's love life, resented Star for breaking up with her son and kissing Marco, even though Tom himself holds a grudge for neither (and has come to see the former as a good thing as it allowed him to accept that he had issues to work out before he was ready to date Star). Tom seems rather close to her too, since she's the one he went to for support after finding out Star and Marco kissed.
- Relationship-Salvaging Disaster: Tom gets washed into the lake, and Star risks her life to save him. Seeing this convinces Wrathmelior that Star really does care about him and won't just let him be hurt.
- Third Wheel: Exasperella's boyfriend Gloominus comes to the Lucitor's vacation house despite blatantly having no ability to connect to them (or his girlfriend, apparently).Dave Lucitor: [talking about Tom] That's my boy.
Exasperella: That's my nephew.
Gloominus: I'm not related to him.
