  • Casual Kink: When the Cabinet gets used a sample group for a survey meant to keep the government in touch with the general public, the survey's results show that most of the respondents enjoy being smeared in baby lotion and having high-class prostitutes walk on top of them. While the results are read out on the news, Geoffrey Howe is shown with a high heel sticking out of his eye.

  • Felony Misdemeanor: Diana, the rest of royal family and the press react with horror when they discover she appeared on television with a hair out of place.
  • Lower-Class Lout: A sketch about Leon Brittan's idea to have criminals work for their victims features a bovver-boy Weetabix helping around the house for an old lady he beat up.
  • Lyrical Dissonance: The episode ends with a stereotypical Scotsman singing a stirring Highland anthem all about how he could murder a curry.
  • The Magazine Rule: What the Papers Say includes a comment from Bottom Smackers, Rubber Bondage and Masochist Weekly, Incorporating Thrust and Nappy Wearer. It apparently covers an even wider range of subjects than its title implies, such as the failure of monetarism.
  • Page Three Stunna: This week's episode of What the Papers Say weighs in on the tabloid's coverage of Page Three model, Samantha Fox.
  • Take That!:
    • Reagan and Don commiserate about one of America's ancient monuments being covered in scaffolding, but Reagan insists that Nancy will look great once the work's finished.
    • In a panic when he thinks that Jesus is back, the Pope decides he needs to swap the Popemobile for a Renault Four:
    "I want him to think I've been suffering."
  • True Meaning of Christmas: Robert Runcie and the Bishop of Durham have a conversation about this subject.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Tessa Sanderson endorses Hi-Pulse Pills, claiming they have no hormonal side effects, despite them apparently having made her look and sound exactly like Daley Thompson.
