After being freed from captivity by Renegade Knucks and Rebel Rouge, the heroes, alongside a Nine-hacked Rusty Rose, fight their way out of the Chaos Council's base, with Sonic soon finding an alarming revelation about the Paradox Prism and his universe...
Tropes:
- Big Damn Heroes: Sonic saves Nine from a robot while fighting Dr. Deep. Then when it seems that the heroes are losing, Sonic starts to spin dash into the bots smashing them, then teachs, Knucks, Rebel and Nine to do so themselves and they quickly get the hang of it.
- Cliffhanger: The fate of Rusty Rose, Rebel Rouge and Renegade Knucks is unknown as they are caught by Eggman. Sonic learns that destroying the Paradox Prism led to the creation of the New Yoke City dimension, and that there are other shards out there. He is determined to gather them all to fix this, but touching the shard's raw power ends up transporting him to places unknown.
- Déjà Vu: Sonic already finds similarities between Green Hill and New Yoke City, but after defeating Dr. Babble, he finds his return to the Council lair's core just like his battle to the Prism in Green Hill even more familiar.
- Did Not Think This Through: Granted, their friends are in trouble on the other side of the core room, but Nine telling Sonic to grab the Prism shard before escaping, without any precautions or protection, leads to the hedgehog getting transported to another dimension.
- Fastball Special: Sonic teaches Renegade Knucks and Nine how to Spin Dash by tossing them to the Badniks.
- Heel–Face Brainwashing: As far as everyone but Sonic is concerned, the girl that became Rusty Rose is long gone. While she remains a cold killing machine, Nine reprograms her to fight by the rebels' side.
- Hope Spot: Sonic thought the Council was holding the entire Paradox Prism, but he finds only one shard, which means fixing his world is going to take longer than he thought.
- Irony: In the first episode, Sonic ignored Tails' warnings about the Paradox Prism, and ended up getting transported to another dimension. In this episode, Sonic tries to obey Tails' warnings by not touching the Prism shard, but Tails' alternate counterpart Nine insists that he do so, so Sonic complies... and gets transported to another dimension.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Sonic finally realizes that he played a part in New Yoke City's existence.Sonic: I remember now. I was too focused on winning. I didn't listen. I... They tried to warn me. All of them. All this time, I thought Eggman figured out how to harness the Prism energy, and that's why everything is so whacked. But it's not that. Eggman didn't create this world... I did. I shattered the Paradox Prism! I broke... everything.
- Wham Shot: The fact only one Prism shard exists in New Yoke City means that there are more out there, and as Sonic finds out, the others aren't even in this dimension.
- Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Sonic says he wasn't going to hurt the young Dr. Babble. His mech, on the other hand, is free game, so Sonic manages to disable it along with the other badniks.
