- Alone Among the Couples: In one of Bowser's visions, he is at a party surrounded by people with dates and is ignored by everyone except Liz. The vision was representative of how Bowser, being a monster, would never truly be accepted among those around him.
- Big Damn Reunion: Between Mario, Peach, and Bowser, where Mario and Peach having the goal to reunite while the tournament was going on. Unfortunately, things don't last long, with Bowser immediately attacks Mario, instigating another fight that takes place in the following episode.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Captain Falcon does this in the battle with Link. This has a significant impact on his teammates and Sonic.
- One-Winged Angel: Ganondorf's iconic "Beast Ganon" form makes its debut here. It's limited duration is one reason why Ganondorf seeks Bowser's strength.
- Tennis Boss: Ganondorf, during his battle with Bowser.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Bowser delivers a beautiful one to Ganondorf after defeating him.
- Vision Quest: While Bowser is unconscious during the battle against Ganondorf, he encounters his inner demons in a series of visions. It's only when he finally overcomes them does he wake up.
