A new dragon, Cynder, is looking to be appointed at the academy, and Eon suggests that Spyro takes the helm in training her to pass the admissions test, which Spyro accepts, mostly because he is very excited to finally meet another dragon, even if they are not from his species. However, Cynder is pretty unconcerned about becoming a Skylander despite her strong desires, but Spyro tries his hardest to convince her to keep trying and live up to her dreams.
This episode provides examples of:
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: Malefor not wanting Cynder to become a good guy and then disowning her for when she stands firm in her own choice is pretty similar to parents who refuse to accept that their child is LGBTQ+.
- Only Sane Man: As the Doom Raiders' "evil" plans starts veering more into childish pranks rather than full-on evil, Kaos is the only one who voices his concern for how stupid they are, even if he gets easily shut down by the others.
- And to the other Doom Raiders, Chompy Mage is this as well, as he is in the same boat as Kaos. While he isn't as open about it as Kaos is, it's at least more than the other Doom Raiders, who show nothing at all.
- Shout-Out: Two Greebles at a restaurant refer to each other as "Pumpkin" and "Honey Bunny".
- Spanner in the Works: When Kaos sees that Chompy Mage is not fawning over the Golden Queen's more lame ideas for evil unlike the other Doom Raiders, he asks him why. Chompy Mage says that Golden Queen has not been the same ever since the conflict with Kaossandra and that it took a toll on her depravity, and the only reason everyone still follows her is because she is the boss. By telling Kaos this, he unknowningly lit the fuse that would result in Kaos leaving the Doom Raiders a few episodes later.
