  • Empty Promise: After Jen agrees to go on a double date with Carl to help Caitlin hook up with Billy, she makes her promise never to ask her again in the future. When Caitlin gets another date, she breaks that promise by setting up Jen with Carl again so she could be with Billy. An angry Jen then makes Caitlin promise not to leave her alone with Carl, which she breaks again so she could have alone time with Billy at a movie.
  • It's All About Me: Caitlin is too caught up in her own goal to snag her boyfriend of the day, Billy, that she doesn't care about how Jen feels when she all but forces her to go on a double date with Carl, a guy she doesn't like.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Jen gets angry when she finds out Caitlin broke up with Billy for yet another trivial reason, effectively making all the sacrifices she forced Jen to make all for naught. Then Jen gleefully reveals that she and Carl had splurged all of Caitlin's money in revenge.
  • Nice Guy: Carl, Billy's best friend, proves to be this—although he's clearly bummed that Jen's not romantically interested in him, he's willing to respect her decision and they agree to at least be friends. Carl's also the one who ultimately convinces Jen to get back at Caitlin for what she did.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Jonesy sports a fake mustache and beard when working as a janitor.
