Daddy Shearest

Original air date: 2/24/2002 (produced in 2001)

In the twentieth episode of Sheep in the Big City, Private Public gets a visit from his dad, General Public, who assists him in trying to capture Sheep.

"Daddy Shearest" contains examples of:

  • Binomium ridiculus: The beginning of the episode features a parody of of the Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner cartoons with Sheep in the role of the Road Runner and Private Public in the role of Wile E. Coyote. Sheep is given a description reading "Sheepius Zipius", while Private Public's simply reads "A Latin joke about Private Public".
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode is mainly focused on Private Public and his father, General Public.
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: The teaser has Sheep watch a children's show hosted by a man in a turtle costume. The man asks the audience if they can see the doggy and goes ballistic when he doesn't hear an answer, yelling at the audience for not seeing that the dog is right next to him.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: Private Public's father General Public shows humiliating childhood photos of his son to General Specific, one particular photo being of Private Public having spots on his butt when he was little.
  • Eye Scream: During the montage with Sheep bonding with General Public (thinking he's finally found the father figure he's longed for), they're at a baseball game and Sheep gets hit in the face with a baseball, causing one of his eyes to fall off his face. General Public reattaches it.
  • Rocky Roll Call:
    Private Public: Dad!
    General Public: Son!
    Private Public: Dad!
    General Public: Son!
    Sheep: Baaa?
    Private Public: Sheep?
    General Public: Sheep?
    Ben Plotz: ENOUGH ALREADY!
  • Shout-Out: The beginning is one to Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner.
