"Come now, children of my industry, and look upon the children of my blood."

Helly: Jesus.
Irving: No… Kier.

We pick up right where the last episode left off. Mark asks if Petey is ok, and Petey says he’s fine. He is, however, concerned about the security of Mark’s house. Mark tells him it’s safe, as Mrs. Selvig/Cobel stares into his window from across the street. Petey then has another freak-out and hallucinates he’s back at Lumon.

Cue theme song.

That night, Mark drinks himself to sleep while watching a cable news debate about the legality of severance. The next morning, Mark goes to wake Petey up. Petey tells Mark that severance isn’t a healthy coping mechanism for his wife’s death. While leaving for work, Mark runs into Mrs. Selvig, who offers to bring him more cookies. Mark accepts the offer out of politeness.

At Lumon, Mark is swapping in the new group photos when Helly tells him not to bother- she’s turned in her resignation request, and she’s sure her outie will accept. Milchick comes in to read some announcements, ending by saying that Helly’s resignation has been denied. Helly tries another escape attempt (by writing “LET ME OUT” across both arms in such a way that it’s only legible when they’re held together), but Mark informs her that this won’t work either.

At Mark’s house, Mark’s brother-in-law Ricken excitedly drops a copy of his new self-help book, “The You You Are”, on Mark’s doorstep. The gift is intercepted by Selvig. In Mark’s basement, Petey continues to break down. Back at Lumon, Selvig gives the book to Milchick and tells him to check it for hidden messages.

In light of Helly’s continued attempts to escape, Irving decides that she needs to be instilled with Lumon’s values with a trip to the Perpetuity Wing. This is essentially a massive museum dedicated to the Eagans, most notably Lumon’s founder Kier Eagan. Dylan and Mark rope Helly into a game of “Eagan Bingo” to pass the time.

Cobel has a meeting with The Board, assuring them that severance is irreversible and her team is working to find what happened to Petey.

While walking to the Perpetuity Wing, Irving runs into Burt again. Irving’s attempts to be friendly are derailed by Dylan. When they arrive, Irving quickly notices Mark and Dylan’s bingo game. As he’s chastising them, Helly takes advantage of the situation to slip away from the group and run through the hallways, looking for some kind of escape. Milchick is alerted and drops Ricken’s book to chase Helly down. Helly breaks the window to the stairwell and tries to drop a piece of paper reading “NEVER COME BACK HERE” on the ground for her outie to find. Graner grabs her and takes her to the break room.

In the break room, Helly is forced to read a bizarre statement of apology over and over again. Mark finally finishes switching out the group photos- and discovers Petey has drawn a map of the severed floor on the back of his.

Meanwhile, Petey has left Mark’s house and is wandering the streets. He makes it to a convenience store before collapsing. Mark notices his absence and starts driving around looking for him. He makes it to the convenience store just in time to see Petey collapse, presumably dead. Mark goes home, shaken, and destroys all evidence of Petey’s presence in his basement. Then Petey's cell starts buzzing...
