Recap / Scrubs S 3 E 6 My Advice To You

Go To

Carla's brother who hates Turk comes for a visit. J.D. tries to get over Elliott when he meets Danni who *seems* nice. Cox asks J.D. to back him up in front of others. Kelso declares a policy Cox disagrees with. Will J.D. be loyal to Cox?

  • Bilingual Bonus: Carla's brother spends most of the episode speaking Spanish and insulting Turk.
  • Character Development: Thanks to Kelso calling him out, Cox comes clean to JD about why he was pushing so hard on getting a patient in the win column. Wins are rare, and they need to be cherished.
  • Commander Contrarian: Cox insists on refuting everything Kelso says, to the point that he's willing to say that Doug is one of the finest doctors he's ever worked with.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: Carla's brother calls Turk "sangano"... Kinda like "dipshit".
  • It's All About Me: Kelso points out that Cox doesn't have any disciples at the hospital because he's such a narcissist that whenever anyone starts to question him he drives them away.
  • Opposed Mentors: Kelso and Cox once again pull this. Kelso demands the staff spend time with dying patients to prevent complaints from their families, which could lead to lawsuits. Cox, meanwhile, insists on proper triage and focusing on a patient that can recover.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Kelso gives a very brief one to Doug.
Doug: Sir, if I could just take a minute to explain my high mortality rate...
Kelso: Allow me to do it for you: you're a bad doctor.
    • He also delivers one to Cox about why his ego always drives away young doctors and prevents him from developing a loyal coterie.
