Tropes that Appear in This Episode

  • Bat Deduction: Ordinarily, you have to use the guide the Escape Room provides to be able to get through the clues, with maybe a hint or two from the assistant. However, Alexis and her Expansion Pack Past just knows so much random crap that she's able to waltz through the last half of the puzzle with ease.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Roland thought Johnny said "Ike Morrison" so was confused to get a phone call from "Mike Morrison" and just takes a note instead of realizing it's the giant phone call Johnny's been waiting for.
  • Genius Ditz: Alexis illustrates why she was so good at escaping real kidnappings by leading the group out of the escape room quickly and efficiently, once she sets her mind to it.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: When she notices the plant Ted gave her is dead, Alexis throws herself into sweatpants and plows hrough half a dozen cups of yogurt.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: The Escape Room is Galapagos themed, with the story being that Charles Darwin is being held captive by his arch-nemesis, Alfred Wallace. In reality Wallace admired Darwin's work and presented him with his own version of the theory of evolution, asking his advice.
  • History with Celebrity: Moira screened Panic Room with Jodie Foster herself, and Alexis's relationship with Harry Styles went south because the island he lived on (England) was too rainy.
  • Not So Above It All: Over time, David and Stevie join Patrick in enjoying the Escape Room.
  • Shared Family Quirks: All four Roses confuse the concept of an Escape Room with the Jodie Foster film Panic Room.
  • Spirited Competitor: Patrick is really into the Escape Room, whereas the rest of the Roses are at first indifferent.
  • Stag Party: Stevie has planned a two part evening for David and Patrick's Bachelor Party, including an Escape Room and drinks at The Wobbly Elm.
  • Stylistic Suck: The ad spots Moira reads are terrible; they even screwed up the rhymes.
