Chapter 4

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Boxing Lesson: When it becomes clear that April has a strong spiritual affinity, Splinter offers to train her, her keeping their existence a secret being used in lieu of payment.
  • Broken Pedestal: While not to the same extent as his canon-counterpart, Mikey was a big fan of Chris Bradford before seeing him for the jerk he really is.
  • Ear Ache: Mikey earns a severe ear-pinch from his mother when he laughs at Donnie for getting curb-stomped by a mutated Rockwell.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • Being much more capable at interacting with humans, Raph manages to deescalate the situation with Vic and Donnie removes the video he took when he posted it, averting the circumstances that would have transformed him into Spider Bytez.
    • Since Michelangelo is more familiar with how social media works here than in canon, his interactions with Chris Bradford are relegated to his family's rivalry with his dojo.
    • Miwa noticed that Mikey dropped the T-Pod that Donatello made him before Stockman could get it, thus making their first meeting with Baxter Stockman incidental.
  • Hey, Let's Put on a Show: When Vic catches the Hamatos and the Kraang fighting, Raph tells him that they were shooting a movie. Vic buys it and nothing comes of it.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Metalhead was still designed to look like a humanoid turtle, Donnie having gotten the idea from Spike.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Bradford comes to the Renaissance Dojo to gloat about his own superiority. When he starts hitting on Miwa, thinking she was a fan and trying to talk her into sabotaging the dojo, she gives him a swift and very public ass-kicking, giving the dojo a good reputation for having one of its students beat a kung-fu Action Hero in a fight and humiliating Bradford in the process.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Since the Bradford Dojo acts as competition to the Renaissance Dojo, Chris Bradford himself acts as this. While the Bradford Dojo relies on Chris Bradford's fame to rank in students, the Renaissance Dojo is considered better in terms of its classes and atmosphere. While Bradford considers himself superior enough not to give their rivalry much thought (and Yoshi not being petty enough to antagonize him), he would later go on to gloat when he suspects them of being Hamato Clan, having been clued in by the Shredder of their presence in New York.
