Recap / Runescape The Lost Tribe

Go To

A wall has collapsed in the basement of the Lumbridge castle kitchen. Most people think it's an earthquake, but Sigmund thinks it might be goblin thieves, and wants you to look into it. After you go take a look at the massive cavern system the kitchen now connects to and find a brooch with a strange symbol on it, you go do your research and find out that it is goblins, but they're not thieves and not at all like the dumb and warlike goblins of the surface. The goblins who accidentally mined into the castle basement are the Dorgeshuun, a legendary tribe that refused to fight for the Big High War God and were forced underground.

They're real and their miners are terrified of you at first, since they think that everything on the surface is like the culture that they escaped, but you can calm them down by doing a traditional goblin bow (learned from the generals in the Goblin Village), and talk to Duke Horacio about your finds. He cautiously accepting of Lumbridge's new underground neighbors, but his advisor Sigmund is hostile. Horacio also tells you that some silverware has gone missing, apparently because of the Dorgeshuun. Until you can convince him that the Dorgeshuun didn't take the goods, he can't make peace with them.

How you do that is actually pretty easy- pickpocket a key from Sigmund and open a chest in his room. It turns out he's a member of Humans Against Monsters, a violently xenophobic group. Pick the lock on the opening to their disused mine hideout, and search the crates. You'll find the silverware there, because Sigmund took it. Bring it back to Duke Horacio and he'll be furious with Sigmund and kick him out before signing a peace treaty with the Dorgeshuun.

Tropes

  • Fantastic Racism: Humans Against Monsters. It's kinda in their name.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Unlike the rest of the goblins, the Dorgeshuun are pacifistic. It's why they're hiding underground, because the Big High War God does not tolerate followers who won't fight.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Once Duke Horacio is convinced that the Dorgeshuun aren't thieves, he's willing to treat them as if they were a human nation.
  • Treacherous Advisor: Sigmund, although he loses his job after this and sticks with H.A.M. full time for the rest of the quest line.
