The town of Mort'ton has a problem. A strange sickness has spread through it, turning the townsfolk into Technically Living Zombies called Afflicted. The town is also crawling with the shades of disturbed dead. A villager named Herbi Flax managed to discover a cure, but it's only temporary and Herbi ended up afflicted along with everyone else.
If you make the temporary cure and use it on some of the villagers, you can learn that the way to make the cure permanent is to rebuild the Flamtaer Temple to the north of the village and sanctify the temporary cure. As a bonus, you can also sanctify olive oil to make sacred oil, which you can use to make pyre logs to set shades to rest. It's recommended you do all the repair work with the help of other players (it's a minigame) because of the horde of Loar shades that constantly try to break the temple down.
Perma-cure the two villagers with names, and it's quest complete.
Tropes
- Nominal Importance: The two villagers with names are the only ones who can actually be permanently cured by the serum- all other villagers will eventually re-spawn as afflicted.
- Technically-Living Zombie: Afflicted. They look like zombies, they walk with their arms stuck out like zombies, but it's actually an illness, and can be cured with a dose of the correct serum. Their blood is also apparently poisonous to vampyres.
