Recap / Runescape A Clockwork Syringe

Go To

When you return to your house, Postie Pete has a package for you. Turns out, it's a Barrelchest, who attacks you and destroys your house (it's okay, you're covered for acts of zombo-mechanical piracy). The zombie head controlling the Barrelchest you take alive (or undead, as it were), and bring to Bill Teach for questioning. The zombie won't talk, but Teach knows a way to make him- the Twiblick Night Special, which Captain Braindeath gives to you.

The Twiblick Night Special turns out to be a box of wigs and make up, and the torture for the zombie head is... a makeover! After he's been prettied up enough, he'll crack and tell you the location of the Barrelchest Factory, Bloodsplatter Island. You and Bill sail there and you clear the guards from the docks by enlisting the help of that seagull you shot out of an accordion last quest.

Then, it's time to infiltrate the facility in a Barrelchest disguise, kill the guards, steal evidence that Rabid Jack has returned and is planning an attack on Mos Le'Harmles, and finally destroy the production line and sink the zomboats that Mi-Gor and Mechanical Murphy try to escape on.

The production of Barrelchests has been stopped, but Rabid Jack's plan hasn't, and Bill Teach resolves to rally the pirates of Mos Le'Harmles against him. But until he calls for you again, quest complete.

Tropes

  • Chekhov's Gunman: The seagull from Rocking Out, Baron von Hattenkrapper, returns to help you kill the Barrelchests guarding the factory.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: You get info from the zombie head with the power of makeovers.
  • Relax-o-Vision: Averted. You're warned at the beginning of the quest that there will be no kitten cutscenes to save you from anything disturbing, and true to form, this is the only quest in the series that is entirely kitten-free.
  • Revealing Cover Up: The Barrelchest assassain was sent after you because you were too nosy and knew too much, but just ends up bringing you deeper in and giving you a source of information in the zombie head.
  • Schrödinger's Gun: What's in the Twiblick Night Special box is determined by what you do with it; if you pick the lock, it will contain another box and a note saying not to do that again. If you lose it somehow, the guy who originally gave it to you will say that the box you lost was a fake (because he knew in advance that you'd lose it). If you take it to the objective to be opened at the right time, it will contain wigs and makeup.
