Robin underestimates the array of deathly traps in the Sheriff's new strongroom, forcing him to think up an entirely new plan. He decides to track down the strongroom's designers: unfortunately, Gisborne has killed most of them to ensure their silence. Robin finds the sole survivor: the now blind designer called Stephen. Together, Stephen and the outlaws practice fighting the room's deadly traps.

Back in Nottingham Castle, the Sheriff orders Marian to pander to every whim of Count Friedrich, who has arrived to play at the casino. But Friedrich then finds out that the Sheriff has a plan that will ensure he loses. Marian then gains a vital ally. He then helps Robin think up a plan to break into the strongroom. In order to increase the Sheriff's losses Friedrich agrees to lose all his winnings to the Sheriff after a given signal from Djaq, working undercover; however, the double-agent Allan has told Gisborne about Robin's plans and Gisborne doubles the traps in place. Robin gets out, sending the Sheriff into a rage; back in Sherwood Forest, Friedrich gives Robin another full chest of riches to feed the needy.

Tropes

  • A-Team Montage: The start of the episode shows the outlaws stealing money in their own unique ways: Little John and Much disguise themselves as guards to steal the tax money, Djaq flirts with a guard so Will can lift a chest of money with a grappling hook, and Allan is busy pick-pocketing a nobleman.
  • Agent Peacock: Friedrich fits this trope to a T.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: Dexter Fletcher's German accent.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Guy really didn't seem to like seeing Friedrich and Marian kissing. On a far lesser note, Robin didn't seemed pleased that the two are on such good terms either.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Djaq flirts with a soldier in the opening montage so that Will can snatch a chest of gold, and later pulls a Wounded Gazelle Gambit while in a clingy silk dress before knocking out a pair of guards.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: "Evil" is a strong word, but Allan has committed himself to passing on information to Gisborne in exchange for money. However, he plays dumb when Gisborne asks him how Robin knew about the strongroom, knowing full-well that exposing Marian as the spy is a line he can't cross.
  • Fake-Out Make-Out: Marian and Count Friedrich after they've been to see the outlaws in Sherwood.
  • Insult Backfire: Guy tells Marian: "It wasn't so hard was it?" (Referring to her 'seduction' of Count Friedrich) To which she replies: "No, it wasn't." Considering her relationship with Guy, it may have come off to him as a "anyone is better than you" message.
  • Handicapped Badass: Stephen may be blind, but he isn't defenseless.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Djaq presents herself as overtly feminine for the first time, with a clingy dress and a flower in her hair, getting unique reactions from all the other male outlaws sans Robin — Little John discreetly looks impressed, Much declares: "I didn't recognize you!", Will is rendered a staring, speechless ninny, and Allan manages a suave comment, earning himself a gratified smile from her.
  • Lady in Red: Marian dons a red dress after being ordered to wear something that "stimulates the imagination."
  • Loose Lips: Workers at Locksley were called upon to build the strongroom, and Marian passed on this knowledge to Robin. Gisborne assumes that someone among the men was the one to inform Robin, and so has them all killed.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Friedrich is much smarter than he lets on.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: At the end of episode, Allan acts oddly affectionate towards Much (who he bickers with more than any other outlaw), indicating his guilty conscience.
  • Percussive Pickpocket: Allan bumps into a nobleman in the opening montage, taking the opportunity to swipe his purse.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: This is the episode in which Djaq finally wears a dress and glams herself up, with predictable reactions from her male comrades.
  • Show Some Leg: Djaq pretends she's twisted her ankle in order to lull a couple of guards into a false sense of security, but makes sure her leg is displayed to its best advantage while she does so.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The mission to beat the booby-trapped strongroom is one to The Crystal Maze.
