Tropes:
- Bowdlerization: In the American Cartoon Network version, Video Store Dave said the collection agency guys "break thumbs." In the UK version, "break thumbs" was replaced with "punch faces." The accompanying dialogue ("We either return the video, pay a thousand dollars, or have our thumbs broken." "We don't have that kinda money! And I really enjoy my thumbs!") is also edited to replace thumb-breaking with face-punching.
- It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: Alluded to in the title. Doubles as an Ironic Episode Title, because the titular "Best VHS in the World" is anything but.
- Never Trust a Title: The Best VHS in the World...is not. It's really, really not.
- Shout-Out: The Best VHS in the World is housed in a golden VHS case, somewhat reminiscent of those orange-colored cases
◊ Nickelodeon used to release their VHS tapes in. - The Man Behind the Curtain: Buttonwillow hides in the darkness speaking through a microphone hooked up to Skips' bass amp to make him seem more threatening than he really is. Once Rigby finds a light switch, defeating him is a matter of yanking the amp's extension cord, since Buttonwillow was standing on top of the amp.
