Recap / Regular Show S 03 Ep 15 Skips Vs Technology

Go To

Skips has always been the kind of guy who can fix anything. But, when Mordecai and Rigby have a problem, he faces his greatest weakness: modern technology.

Tropes:

  • Book Ends: The episode starts with a montage of Skips going through his extremely long life fixing things. The episode ends with Skips happily fixing the room that the possessed computer destroyed, knowing now that he's appreciated by his friends, whether he can fix everything or not.
  • Chekhov's Skill: When trying to learn how to be computer savvy, Skips goes to a computer store and annoys the clerks when he makes the mistake of opening several programs at once and causing the computer to run very slowly. He remembers this and has Mordecai and Rigby use it to slow down the virus possessing their computer.
  • Hardwork Montage: The episode opens showing how Skips has spent his life/career at the park fixing anything that might need fixed, from gazebos to cars. This helps the viewer understand why he'd be upset at himself for not knowing how to fix a computer.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Mordecai and Rigby accidentally insult Skips once or twice while trying to fix their computer. Skips thinks it's because they don't believe he can fix the computer. He's partially right, but the real reason was because they were trying to print their surprise for him.
  • Surprisingly Mundane Reason: Mordecai and Rigby accidentally insulted Skips a few times, and made it very clear that they didn't want him looking at the computer. However, they actually had a good reason: they were trying to print off a note for Skips thanking him for all of the times he's helped them in the past. They simply didn't want to ruin the surprise. Skips is touched.
  • Technologically Blind Elders: Skips, being immortal, has lived longer than probably anyone else on Earth. Modern technology, however (namely computers), manages to stump him.
