- Call-Back: When talking about how pointless the war in Blood Gulch is in the first episode, Simmons pointed out that all Blue Team would get for winning is two bases in the middle of a box canyon. "Whoop-de-fuckin'-doo." When the Blues take Red Base, Church notes that they now have two bases in a box canyon, and Tucker mutters, "Whoop-de-fuckin'-doo."
- Continuity Nod: When Donut points out the two dead Blue soldiers, Simmons says "I thought the Blues had three dead guys", calling to mind the fact that Flowers died before Donut arrived in the canyon.
- Flag Drop: Sarge gives a Rousing Speech to his comrades where a Red Team flag and musical accompaniment appear out of nowhere. Being RvB, this is quickly lampshaded.Donut: Where did that flag come from?
Grif: Flag? Who gives a fuck about the flag? How about the guy who's singing? - Rousing Speech: Sarge gives one to the rest of Red Team. As he does, a flag pops up and someone starts singing in the background.
