- Call-Back: Wash brings up Tucker giving birth to Junior a few years back.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Grif confronts Simmons over the fact that all of them seem to just carry around guns, even though they are not at war with anyone. It's all a ploy to ditch trash-duty, though.
- Meaningful Name: Caboose says he named the Mantis droid he found "Freckles" because the little dots on its "nose" look like freckles. After he explains this, Tucker actually agrees with Caboose that the robot looks more like a "Freckles" than a "Mantis".
