A classmate in Gretchen's class keeps poking her in the back during class and tossing balls at her. When she tells her friends, at first they don't believe her until she gets smacked in the face and they catch the culprit. It turns out to be a creepy kid named Jeffrey, who declares loudly that he loves Gretchen and that's why he was annoying her. Cue Gretchen being mocked for something that isn't her fault, and having nightmares about being pressured into a date with the guy.
- Anxiety Dreams: Gretchen has a few about being forcibly married to Jeffrey, having his child, and growing old with him against her will. She wakes up giving a Big "NO!".
- Loving a Shadow: Jeffrey likes Gretchen from a distance but doesn't actually know her. Gretchen then says that she'll date him, but that means they'll be doing studying and homework. This actually scares him off.
- Wanting Is Better Than Having: Jeffrey spends the better part of the episode pining for Gretchen, pestering to be his girlfriend despite her protests. When Gretchen decides to nip this whole Jeffrey business in the bud, she chooses an approach that works: agree to go out with Jeffrey, to the point of handcuffing herself to him. To his horror, she makes it clear her idea of a date is studying and homework. At seeing this, Jeffrey finds himself begging to be set free, promising he'll never harass Gretchen again. Gretchen then reveals she pocketed a spare key and frees him.
