Recap / RWBY Epic Of Remnant Ch 7 Belgrade

Go To

In a flashback, Gudako prepares for a scouting mission into a Singularity with EMIYA Alter/Shirou, Hassan of the Cursed Arm, Lancelot, and Angra Mainyu. To get Lancelot to cooperate, she promises to let him play with some anti-air cannons. EMIYA Alter points out Ritsuka would bust them, but she says they'll do it when he's on a mission. Angra Mainyu complains and asks why she doesn't get Ruler to do this mission to London instead of him, but she slaps him and says he's going and that's final.

The group of four walk down the hall and discuss how the new students are arriving for orientation today and then the test for initiation is tomorrow. They hope Lancelot doesn't go crazy. On their medical forms, EMIYA Alter wrote that he has short term memory loss and lost his sense of taste, Hassan wrote that he doesn't normally eat solid food, Lancelot wrote that he suffers from emotional instability, and Angra Mainyu didn't write any problems for himself. Lancelot has been prescribed some medication and they hope it works.

Ozpin and Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck are on a balcony drinking coffee together. Ozpin says based on the profiles of the new students, they should be impressive, but Oobleck says he prefers to see their skills with his own eyes before judging them. Ozpin asks if he examined the blood and Aura samples he sent earlier. Oobleck did and finds the results concerning. Ozpin explains the samples came from a young girl named Gudako who is comatose in the infirmary. Going off the incomplete info the four Servants gave him, Ozpin says Gudako was attacked by Salem. He examined her with his magical senses and was amazed that while she is not one of the Maidens, she has natural magic, maybe the first natural magic user on Remnant in thousands of years. He can also sense that her magic is fighting off what he thinks is Salem's corruption. Oobleck says according to his findings, Gudako's Aura is contaminated and eroding, but also regenerating. Barring no complications, she should be back to normal in a few weeks to a month. In the blood sample, he found bacteria that may be millions of years old as it doesn't match anything on record. It feeds on Aura and converts neighboring cells into Grimm-like cells. He theorizes that Salem was trying to convert Gudako into a Grimm hybrid. Fortunately, the bacteria in the blood sample died on their own after a few hours, so he believes the bacteria in Gudako's body should do the same. The students are coming and Ozpin sees an explosion in the background, so he prepares for his speech.

Shirou takes a walk, scoping out the students and absorbing the knowledge of their weapons. He finds a girl with white hair berating Ruby Rose. He walks up and asks what is going on, and Ruby is happy to see him. The white haired girl reminds him of Rin Tohsaka. She says Ruby knocked over her luggage and blew up one of her Dust containers, while Ruby repeatedly says it was an accident. Shirou says he believes Ruby, just look at her puppy dog face. The girl says fine, but Ruby had better shape up as this academy has no place for the clumsy. Ruby and Shirou give their names, and the girl introduces herself as Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company and soon to be the top of the class. She walks away with her butlers carrying her luggage. Ruby asks Shirou how he was so calm because Weiss was scary, and he says he vaguely remembers dealing with people with similar personalities. She becomes sad when she recalls his memory issues, but he says he deals with it by writing in a journal. She says she has a good memory for non-boring stuff like history, so she'll remember for him, which affects him because that was something Gudako had said when she found out about his memory issues. A blond boy walks up and asks if they know where they are supposed to go.

Blake Belladonna wanders around trying to find Hassan. When she recognized Weiss, she was about to give her a piece of her mind, but she can't rest easy knowing a murderer is on the loose in Beacon. Just as she is about to give up, Hassan reveals himself in the tree above her, almost scaring her out of her wits. She becomes even more scared when he says he was in the tree for about five minutes because she didn't notice him. He tells her to be at ease because he's not here to harm her, but she says she can't trust the word of a murderer. He prefers the term Assassin. They start to enter the auditorium and he admits he's not a fan of crowds because they are noisy and a lot of people will likely gawk at his attire. She says next time, he shouldn't wear such a suspicious outfit.

Weiss is grumpy. In the past week her father lost his temper when he had a meeting with General James Ironwood and her sister Winter. This morning, she dealt with little things like stubbing her toe and forgetting to brush her hair, then she ran into Ruby and Shirou. She comes to a garden with a fish pond and finds Lancelot kneeling and praying in front of it. Though from the neck down he wears a scary looking suit of armor, he is the most handsome man she's ever seen, and she is instantly smitten. He looks up and asks if she is all right. Extremely nervous, she asks if they can enjoy the garden together before going to the auditorium. He agrees and they introduce themselves.

Shirou, Ruby, and the blond boy, named Jaune Arc, enter the auditorium. Ruby and Jaune are amazed and intimidated by the sights, so Shirou comments that if this flusters them, they had better be prepared when they face the Grimm. Shirou finds Angra Mainyu leaning against a wall and groans that he found one of his friends. Several students give him a wide berth, and Ruby and Jaune find him intimidating because he only wears a red cloth around his waist, a red bandana, bandages around his hands and feet, and his body is completely covered with tattoos. Shirou says he's more bark than bite, but he's probably the toughest guy in the room right now. Shirou walks up and slaps him, then they start bickering. Ruby and Jaune are confused, then Ruby spots Yang and tackles her, yelling at her for leaving her behind. Annoyed that he's been left alone, Jaune starts to walk off and bumps into a tall, muscular red haired girl wearing Greek style armor. He becomes excited because she looks like the mascot of Pumpkin Pete's cereal. He introduces himself, and she says her name is Pyrrha.

Shirou tells Angra Mainyu about Jaune. They are both weirded out because his name is similar to their fellow Servant Jeanne d'Arc. From what Shirou observed, Jaune seems to have almost no muscle tone or mass, as if he hadn't trained. He read the history of Jaune's sword, Crocea Mors, and found that it had been wielded by many of Jaune's ancestors, but he never wielded it before. Hassan walks up. Several students give him a wide berth and some panic and consult a teacher, only for the teachers to assure them he is not a threat. Angra comments that maybe he should paint his mask to make it less scary, but Hassan says he'd rather cut off his finger than desecrate his culture. Blake walks up and asks if they are Hassan's friends. He says they are his associates. She finds them suspicious looking as well, and asks if they know Hassan has killed people. They say they don't care. She realizes they all have the eyes of killers, having seen some people like that in the White Fang, and asks how in the world they made it into Beacon. Shirou says they made a deal with Ozpin where they have to become the protectors of humanity for him to help them. Lancelot walks up and waves goodbye to Weiss, who walks away blushing. He greets Blake, having recognized her from Hassan's description, and says he hopes they can be friends. Based on his looks and the fact he was friendly with Weiss, she assumes he's from Atlas, and gets confused why he's not racist, since Hassan surely told them she was a Faunus and almost all Atlesans are racist. Lancelot says racism is pointless and besides, they are all people. Blake is floored by this, then asks how he's friends with them. He says they may have their differences, but they are his team and he trusts them. The other three are really affected by this, then Angra wraps his arm around Lancelot's shoulders and says the others are assholes, but they're his assholes. Annoyed, Hassan says he spoiled the moment. Blake relaxes.

After Ozpin gives a somber speech to the new students, they will all sleep in the ballroom, as only those who pass the initiation tomorrow will be allowed to stay and get dorms. The students bring out sleeping bags and change into night clothes, but several boys become shirtless and flirt with the girls. Hassan leans against a wall wrapping his cloak around him and is not impressed by their juvenile behavior. Though the four Servants already had a room, they'll sleep in the ballroom tonight so they can scope out the students. Yang drags Ruby over to them, then recognizes Lancelot and says she didn't expect to see him hanging out with her sister's boyfriend. Ruby whines that Shirou is not her boyfriend, then recognizes Lancelot from the other night and is amazed he and Shirou know each other. Yang looks Shirou over and says he is handsome and she approves of Ruby's choice, making Ruby whine again. They all introduce themselves.

Yang admires Angra Mainyu's tattoos and comments that they must have hurt, and he says they did, a lot. Yang says he's the most impressive looking guy in the room. She then asks Hassan if he's a member of the White Fang. Annoyed, he says he's not, and he's not a Faunus. The mask is part of his culture. Ruby asks if that means there are more people who wear those masks, but he says he's the last, but his dream is to revive his people. Yang says he may look creepy, but he's okay in her book, then tells Lancelot he has many interesting friends. He says they make sure everyday is never boring. She says her adorable and weird sister does the same thing. Ruby takes offense to that, but Weiss walks up and tells them to keep it down. When she sees Lancelot, she becomes smitten again. Yang becomes jealous and the two girls glare at each other. Lancelot asks for help, but finds that Angra, Hassan, Shirou, and Ruby left. He groans and asks why this is happening to him.

In Patch, Taiyang Xiao Long sits in his home nervous because both of his daughters Yang and Ruby are at Beacon. Even though Ruby fought Roman Torchwick, he can't believe Ozpin would admit her two years early, and thinks he is either doing it out of guilt for the death of Ruby's mother Summer, or he's going senile. There is a knock on his door and he checks it. Outside is a dark blue haired man in an expensive looking suit and trench coat, carrying a cane and a smoking pipe. Based on the man's looks, Taiyang assumes he's from Atlas. Taiyang finds him suspicious, but almost melts when he sees he is accompanied by a small girl with long blonde hair in a black poofy dress with bloomers that reach her knees, a little top hat, and a teddy bear. The man says they have been wandering this forest for a while, so they would like to look at a map if he can spare one. Concerned, Taiyang asks if they are all right, as the woods are incredibly dangerous at night, especially with a child, and his house is the only one for miles, then he asks if they were attacked by Grimm. The man says they were, but he took care of them easily. Taiyang offers for them to stay the night. The man says that won't be necessary, but Taiyang insists. The man asks the girl if she agrees. She stares into Taiyang's eyes, and he suddenly feels an intense pressure in his head and believes that something about her is wrong. The girl hides behind her teddy bear and makes it nod. Taiyang welcomes them inside and introduces himself. The man dramatically hangs up his trench coat and cane, then says his name is Sherlock Holmes. He pats the girl on the head and says her name is Abigail Williams. Abigail blushes and says hello. While musing to himself that Sherlock may have a few screws loose and reminds him of Oobleck, Taiyang goes to get some refreshments and asks what Sherlock does for a living. He says he's a private eye.
