Tropes

Afraid of Blood: After barely managing to avoid getting killed by Nick's drive-by at the start, Dana stops griping and faints as soon as she sees her own blood.
Chekhov's Gun: When trying to start a fire in the cabin's fireplace, Sam discovers Peter had a matchbook in his pocket, with a phone number written on it. Later on, Dana spots that same matchbook... and promptly pulls a gun on Sam. As it happens, and as Sam figures out, that number is Nick's.
Dirty Cop: Sam's leapee is the dirty FBI agent who is helping Nick murder Dana.
Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: His targets are ducked down in a car, and Nick still misses. He shoots up the entire car, but misses his targets or anything vital on the car.
Not With the Safety On, You Won't: Once Dana realizes "Peter" is working for Nick, she grabs his gun and holds Sam at gunpoint. Sam is noticably put on edge... until Al confirms the safety's on.
Sam: (confused) Why all of sudden... do you wanna shoot me?
Dana: (pissed) You take one more step, and I'll kill you.
Al: Not with the safety on.
Sam: (unsure) You sure?
Dana: One more step and you'll find out.
Al: Trust me.
Sam: (approaches Dana) Guess I'll have to...
(Dana pulls the trigger; it fails to fire)
