Recap / Power Rangers Zeo S1E16 There's No Business Like Snow Business Part 2

Go To

While the Rangers finish off Robo-Cupid, Tommy tries to continue things with Heather. But a new monster soon appears.

Tropes:

  • Almost Kiss: Heather was expecting one during her and Tommy's alone time, but the latter chickens out. It probably doesn't help that Heather mentions Kimberly moments before.
  • Global Warming: Defoliator weaponizes heatwaves, making the already warm Angel Grove into a roast fest. The gang in the snowcapped mountains can feel it too.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: Robocupid is taken down early in the episode. However, the Machine Empire has another monster to unleash: Defoliator.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: There is an implication that Kat had developed feelings for Tommy, but didn't wish to act on them due to him just being dumped, so she set up him with Heather instead.
  • The Masquerade Will Kill Your Dating Life: Tommy and Heather's plans for dinner are spoiled when Zordon calls him, Katherine, and Billy back to the Power Chamber for a briefing on a possible monster attack.
  • On the Rebound: Tommy struggles with this over Heather's attraction to him.
  • Padding: The snowmobile sequence doesn't contribute much if anything to the plot. Its only point is to show that Heather is becoming more enamored with Tommy.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: "Sing your last love song, Robocupid!"
  • Present Company Excluded: Adam reassures Alpha when he finds Robo Cupid's power (making humans fall in love with machines) "brutal".
  • The Scapegoat: Klank, as usual, gets the brunt of his king's wrath when the sign removal trap doesn't snare any of the snowbound rangers, nevermind that Klank was in Angel Grove setting up Robo Cupid's plot while leaving the mountainside planning to the Cogs.
  • Trapped the Wrong Target: Mondo is none too pleased with Heather going down the cliff instead of any of the rangers.
