Fighting off the second wave of attacks, the new power rangers still have a problem with taking care of the upgraded rinshi mantis monster. So, RJ assigns them weapons to help out in the next fight. A problem though is that Casey isn't ready to use his assigned weapon yet, so until they're at the same level, RJ won't push them any further. So, how can they overcome this?
Meanwhile, Camille takes the mantis monster to the outskirts of the city to try for a new plan to destroy the city and fulfill Dai Shi's will.

- Both Sides Have a Point: Theo is disappointed that RJ won't teach them the "growing technique" because Casey is behind him and Lily. Seeing as Dai Shi isn't going to wait for the Rangers to get better, he's not wrong. However, RJ tells Theo that the three are like the legs of a stool, breaking one of the legs of said stool Theo is sitting on to make him fall. He uses this to tell Theo if that one member of the team isn't ready, then none of them are.
- Face-Revealing Turn: Unless you somehow missed the opening credits, then you'd actually be surprised to see Jarrod is Dai Shi's host this way.
- Training Montage: We actually see two.
- First, there's a Flashback showing how Theo learned to use Tonfa under Master Mao.
- Then in the episode proper, Theo takes up the teaching role to Casey so he can learn Nunchaku properly.
- Unexplained Recovery: Ocean Bluff was still flooded when the rangers beat the monster. But there's no sign of difficulty recovering from this in future episodes.
