Recap / Power Rangers Dino Fury Episode Forty Four The Nemesis

Go To

The Rangers and Tarrick face Void Queen in a final showdown, but when Void Queen pulls out her last trump card, they may have to stake everything to stop her, even if they must pay the ultimate price.

Tropes:

  • All Your Powers Combined:
    • The gigantic Nemesis is a conglomeration of all the Sporix cells.
    • Zayto powers up his sword with the power of all the Zords to destroy the Nemesis.
  • And the Adventure Continues: Zayto returns, resurrected from the dead, declaring that Zedd has broken free of his crystal prison and that they have to stop him.
  • Babies Ever After: After the time skip, Tarrick and Santaura settle down and have another baby already on the way.
  • Back for the Finale: Fern, whom we last saw in a bus heading to college at the end of "Things Unspoken", returns after the six-month Time Skip and is seen together with Izzy.
  • Cassandra Truth: The Rangers and Tarrick try to tell Void Queen Amelia's her kid, but she's utterly unwilling to listen. It's only after Amelia touches her hand and uses her mind link ability that Santaura finally gets it and turns good again.
  • Cerebus Call-Back: Zayto's reaction when he sees Void Queen's giant beast in order to convince himself it’s fine when everything isn't is to say his cool-down catchphrase.
  • Colossus Climb: The Rangers use their teleporting to zap on top of Nemesis just so they can get to Void Queen.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • After the time skip, Buzzblast has become so successful it can now set up a studio in Angel Grove.
    • Aiyon opens up a restaurant, selling Rafkonian cakes, which Jane and J-Borg decide to eat Rafkon style.
    • Mucus' image on the poster for Slyther's magic act is her human form from "Wishful Thinking".
  • Death Is Cheap: Zayto is supposedly killed taking out the Nemesis beast. The Rangers are distraught, the Morphin Masters eulogize him... but comes back at the end of the episode, having been resurrected anyway.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: In the end, Santaura is freed from the brainwashing, with her, Tarrick and Amelia reunited as a family as last and is pregnant with another daughter. The Rafkonians settle on Earth, Aiyon opens a bakery, Izzy and Fern are together again, Javi's becoming a successful musician, Jane is opening a branch of Buzzblast at Angel Grove and even Slyther and Mucus have reformed. Last, Zayto has been brought back to life, and he tells the others that they have another mission to stop Zedd.
  • Everybody Lives: Everyone ends up surviving the final battle. Even Zayto, who did die, gets resurrected by the Morphin Masters.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Just before using the Dino Master Sword's ultimate technique, which requires using the Zords' power, Zayto says to the T-Rex Zord "Good-bye, old friend".
    • Zayto, like Tommy, descends in a brand new Ranger uniform that's mostly white.
    • The three colors that Santaura, Pop-Pop, and Tarrick debate on painting the baby crib are Briarwood Green, Ocean Bluff Blue, and Corinthian Sunset.
    • Zayto, like Steel, dies attacking the main antagonist head on alone, although he succeeds in taking down the Nemesis Beast.
  • One-Winged Angel: Subverted. Despite what the previous episode hinted at, and what Aiyon initially believed, Ollie explains that Void Queen didn't merge with the Sporix inside the cocoon, she was having them form around her into a gigantic behemoth called the Nemesis, with her controlling it from the chest.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Having Santaura be pregnant during the epilogue is most likely due to her actress being nine months pregnant at the time.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: The Morphin Masters show up to contain the Sporix once Nemesis is destroyed, sealing them up in crystal the same they did with Zedd.
  • Sequel Hook: Zayto is resurrected with new powers, courtesy of the Morphin Masters, and tells them it's because Zedd has broken free and they need to go stop him now, leading right into the next series.
  • Something We Forgot: Slyther was last seen escaping in the previous episode. The Rangers apparently never bothered to go looking for him and six months later he's settled down as a stage magician (with Mucus as his assistant).
  • The End... Or Is It?: Subverted. Once the fighting's done, the Rangers leave, but unaware to them, Mucus has survived and sneaks away in her slime form, laughing evilly as she does. Then the Time Skip shows she's seemingly given up villainy and reunited with Slyther as part of his magic act.
  • Time Skip: After the villains are defeated, there's a skip of six months. Izzy is now graduating, having become a sports star. Javi's music career has taken off, and Aiyon has managed to open a restaurant. Meanwhile Ollie, Amelia and Pop-Pop are helping the Rafkonians settle in to Area 62.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: The end of the series takes place six months after the final battle and details what everyone's been up to.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Tarrick uses the Dino Knight Morpher to survive teleporting Void Queen's cocoon out into the desert so it won't destroy Pine Ridge, but it smashes the morpher to pieces.
