This episode provides examples of:

  • Banned Episode: This episode didn’t air in Japan due to worries that children would recreate the knife game. One of the few episodes to avoid Value Dissonance, because it was too much even to be shown in Japan.
  • Bloodless Carnage: Strangely enough considering how blood was prominently shown in other episodes of the show, Frog doesn't show any signs of bleeding after basically being flayed alive over the course of the episode. Also, there is no blood shown when Papi chops off his own hand.
  • Everyone Has Standards: After some initial reluctance, Kedamono is shown to be perfectly fine with playing the knife game and even dragging live animals into it. However, he is shown to be horrified when Popee and Papi begin mutilating Frog near the end of the episode.
  • Fingore: Subverted in Popee's case as when the knife comes down on his hand and seemingly splits one of his fingers in half, Popee reveals that only his costume was damaged and that his fingers are fine. It's Played Straight later on when Popee unknowingly cuts off the tip of one of Frog's fingers which then ends up in Papi's eye.
  • Five-Finger Fillet: The plot for the entire episode.
