As Ash and his friends venture on their way to the next Frontier challenge, they get snagged in a net. Fortunately this time, it's not Team Rocket—it's a poor father desperately trying to catch a Pokemon for his daughter's birthday, and this particular Pokemon isn't going down without a fight.
- Bait-and-Switch: Twice in the same episode.
- Ash and the others end up trapped in a net. Given their experiences, it appears Team Rocket is up to their old tricks, but it turns out to be a man named Mitch and his Loudred, who were trying to catch Jigglypuff.
- Secondly, Ash and Brock react with terror when they see the Pokemon that Mitch is chasing is a Jigglypuff, thinking it's the same one that's been following them around for a while. It's not the same one, but it is just as difficult to deal with.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: The team finally catches Jigglypuff by locking it in a sound-proof room, where it's own Sing attack bounces off the walls and knocks it right out.
- I'm Not Hungry: Jigglypuff doesn't eat Brock's special Pokemon food, much to his shock. May tries feeding it her Pink Surprise, only for Munchlax to swoop in and snack on it.
