It's time for Goh's first mission for Project Mew: Capture a misplaced Alolan Ninetails and bring it back to be returned to Mt. Lanakila. But is Goh in over his head?"
"Leaping Towards a Dream" Provides examples of:
- The Cameo: Gary makes a quick appearance at the start of the episode, leaving the Project Mew base just as Ash and Goh arrive.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Quillon uses the Dark/Fighting type Urshifu, but is working for Project Mew.
- Didn't See That Coming: A Regice shows up when they're trying to capture the Alolan Ninetales, creating yet another obstacle.
- Good Is Not Nice: Quillon is on Ash and Goh's side, but he is very straight to the point and straight up tells Goh that he's been disqualified after he had to rescue the two of them during his mission, though he later rescinds that. Danika is a little softer, though she can still be rather blunt.
- Pet the Dog: When Goh's about to mention he's been disqualified from Project Mew, Quillon stops him, essentially reinstating him and giving him another chance.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite Ash not being a candidate, Danika allows him to assist Goh in his mission, since teamwork is essential if Project Mew is to succeed.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Gary has about a minute of screen time total in the episode, but his encounter with the team makes Goh even more determined to become a Chaser.
